Always Thankful

Updated: Jan 8, 2021

I believe thankfulness should stretch beyond one designated day a year into everyday life. It truly is a frame of mind! Everybody reading this blog post has at least one thing in common you can be thankful for: You survived yesterday, and woke up today! That in and of itself is worthy of celebrating!

With all of life's stressors, frustrations and politics, it can take a concerted effort to not spend your entire day in a negative haze. If you struggle with thoughts dominated by negativity, it can take time to retrain your brain, but doing so will have tremendous positive effects. Positivity and thankfulness increase those 'feel-good' endorphines which provide positive re-enforcement to good mental health habits.

You can have all the physically healthy habits in the world, but if you don't deal with the stuff going on in your heart and mind, you are still unhealthy.

There is plenty to deal with up there on daily basis, but cultivating a thankful and grateful heart and mind is one positive step you can make towards a happier, healthier you! So write down all the things your blessings...type them up and add to your list monthly, weekly or even daily. When you are in the throes of stress, anxiety, frustration, disappointment, depression, or when it feels like your world is crashing in on you, take out that list and reflect on everything you have to be thankful for.

I will start you off...I have a long list and am happy to share!

I am thankful for my:

Pillow

Electricity/Running Water

Food in the fridge and pantry

Mattress

A/C in the summer

Husband, family, fur babies and friends

Blankets

Heat in the winter

Birth parents for making my life possible

Clean clothes

Running Vehicle

You!
